what did i get done?

  • reflecta: implemented ai guidance in-page, build prototype for ai coaching session + custom meditation, sync with edu on mobile design, onboarded 3 new users
  • media: 2x acta talks sessions, recorded 3x voice overs, defined brand positioning for LM
  • acta: started 8 week challenge for projects, went through 5 applications + sent follow ups, helped the RPF team with clear definition of next iteration

learnings/new thoughts

  • the personal excitement of founders towards an idea/iteration is a big input variable for the quality and speed of execution
  • we need a stricter process around weekly goal setting (sent invite for next week)

what is limiting right now?

  • visa processes for arda who is just waiting for this to start full-time

goals for this week

  • reflecta: push completion of new iteration (mobile end-to-end onboarding to core experience flow), build out custom notification flow with structured data representation, add 2-3 more opinionated coaching sessions, implement custom meditation pipeline, schedule >10 onboardings for late next week to show new iteration
  • media: shoot 1x LF video LM, initiate “bare minimum” brand building initiatives for all team members, schedule 1x new acta talks session
  • acta: ensure clear 8-week goal for RPF, finish going through the remaining ~20 applications and give decisions to applicants, contemplate bigger technology shift more deeply and write initial observation/thinking essay

What did i get done?

  • set up content team process + structure with justus
  • recruited 7 users for reflecta, new understanding + concept of initial "wow" factor in product, added morning guidance feature with improved prompt + prototyped ux on sidebar
  • met with 3 potential candidates for acta
  • published 1 reel, wrote 4 articles, 2x linkedin posts

Learnings/new thoughts

  • the startup process might be more sequential (brian chesky inspired: make something 1 person absolutely loves by making the experience end-to-end remarkable, then focus on the next one)

What is limiting right now?

  • not having hired the right founder's associate that can help me with all the initiatives i want to drive in and around acta

Goals for the week

  • reflecta: implement guidance sub-model idea for coach-interaction, scope out mobile app with Luca, build first 10m "wow" onboarding experience around an opinionated exercise based on existing x prompts people are sharing, onboard 6 new users
  • media: 2x acta talks sessions (with Leo + Matthias), define brand + positioning clearly
  • acta: start 8 week challenge initiative with existing core-team, go through applications (+if needed reach out to more candidates for the founder's associate role)

What did i get done?

  • talked to 4 potential people on joining acta / helping with recruitment (firat, elias, alessandros, gabriel)
  • hired justus (head of media) and ardacan (engineer)
  • recorded conversation on bjoern's and my background to give applicants more data points on why they should join acta, one short on getting more people to hang out in the acta hub and spread the word
  • reflecta: added db with sync mechanism, built first prototype of morning guidance feature
  • met with potential founder's associate for recruitment project

Learnings/New thoughts

  • telegram recruits talent through coding challenges. this might be the best way for us to recruit as well. launch challenges like a system (maybe lasting a weekend) on technical and non-technical side with attractive rewards
  • having someone who fully embodies and owns being the source of the sub-parts of acta changes the momentum entirely
  • having cool creatives join us in the acta hub adds to the overall vibe (e.g. daily demo session)

What is limiting right now?

  • getting more AAA people to join us inside of acta and assemble the first 3 venture teams

Goals for this week

  • kicking off the audience building pillar + process with justus properly at acta aligned with our goals
  • launching reflecta to 20 users (with mobile app via test flight + new project)
  • aligning the team at RPF properly with a real existential intent and putting the right goal (what to work on out there)
  • talk to 5 more people on joining acta, follow up with potential people who help us recruit in their networks
  • update acta deal video + details on website

last week, i was on vacation. thus, limited output of work.

  • built a new prototype for the reflecta writing experience (labs.reflecta.so)
  • contemplated improved deal/capital structure for reflecta

what will i work on this week?

  • reflecta: finish up current iteration of prototype & get 5 new users onboarded, brief edu on mobile + daily practice design
  • acta: write 3 essays (building fast, getting started with meditation, writing culture), behind acta episode, get 10 new high-quality applicants for co-founder roles, vision exploration with potential content hires, meet with one potential co-founder, decide on updated deal structure/capital model, write out initial structure for inner dao track
  • audience: post 4 reels, shoot 1x youtube video, shoot 3x reels

  • acta: kicked off project with edu (designer) focussing on reflecta ui rework, behind acta episode recording, created 1x hiring short, meeting with 1x recruiter to help with talent recruitment, reached out to 2 people from my network to help with recruiting, scheduled next conversation with cto candidate, finished move into new office location
  • audience: published 1x youtube video, recorded 1x youtube video
  • reflecta: onboarded 1x new user, shipped 2 new features/changes

  • recruitment is without a doubt the biggest priority for acta right now

What is limiting right now?

  • recruitment in 4-6 key roles

  • acta: try 3x social ads on ig to get high quality applications with ~150€ ad budget (test whether this works), schedule 3 meetings with chief story teller candidates, follow up with potential cto + coo hires
  • audience: shoot 1x youtube video, publish 10 q video w/ bene, publish 2x shorts (hiring + chapter from new book)
  • acta media: produce first acta talks session, figure out new camera setup, plan shooting days for first ~5 acta school videos

  • lacking key-hires: 2x technical co-founders, 2x business co-founders

  • reflecta: finalized sage memory + sage daily cues to be useful (progress notes insight extraction + morning and afternoon prompts for cues), scheduled 5 onboarding sessions personally to learn from users, define first 2 videos content-wise (scripts, ig + yt) with custom gpts and notion table to work with lukas
  • audience building: published acta weekly podcast, recorded 1x youtube video + short
  • other: built custom gpt to improve weekly updates

Learnings/New thoughts

  • an angle that may help me with my personal audience building is having a recurring format rooted in one project i am working on for a given amount of time (e.g. 4-8 weeks). this could be the new book i am working on, or some acta-related topics
  • a potential system that would help us be more successful as acta and in the individual ventures is having a process for the founders of sub-ventures to build their audience with one shared resource that helps them to tell the stories in an engaging way. sort of inspired by buildspace's way of storytelling.
  • what if we pay university students who are talented 50-100k to drop out? inspired by the thiel fellowship
  • should there be an european llm provider? what would a wearable device for ai look like? is it auditive?
  • what is the current goal for acta? have 3 operational ventures + figure out how to build an audience + reach profitability. why? to continue our mission of proving a new model to work and contribute to society.

What is limiting right now?

  • still lacking 3-4 key hires: non-technical co-founder reflecta (to start growing the brand and signups), founding team life memoires, designer to help across ventures

Goals for this week

  • acta: figure out how to recruit the open positions, sketch out content and audience system
  • reflecta: onboard 5 new users, create pitch video for ai meetup from sophie, final test of reflecta for next user cohort, clearly define the hypothesis & metrics we want to test with this cohort to reach conviction on scaling up signups, sketch out concept for content library daily cues connection (to improve conversion + value)
  • audience building: select current project to talk about as recurring theme -> test 2-3 ideas using shorts and based on personal conviction + results decide which to pursue. record 2 youtube videos

What did i get done?

unfortunately sick for 2 days, not being able to make the progress i wanted.

  • finalized scope for reflecta v1.1 (incl. mobile app), pushed sage memory to 50% completion
  • in touch with maastricht university for potential talk to recruit founders
  • viewing for monday, 19th of may for location in berlin for the first acta hub

Learnings/New thoughts

  • for my personal productivity, it really helps if i ask myself the question "what would make this day feel impactful and fulfilling?" in the morning
  • i need to structure the brand building for reflecta more; the content should double as a content library for reflecta users and my input on content curation matters a great deal right now
  • defining one primary north-star metric for every team member could help in prioritization and speed of progress

What is limiting right now?

  • still no meaningful operational revenue (25€ mrr at reflecta right now). the sole focus for me right now should be to get this number up working with the team. what is blocking is that we don't have a steady stream of users that are onboarded (fixing this by opening this up to the public by the end of the week)

Goals for this week

  • reflecta: finalize sage memory + sage daily cues to be useful, schedule 5 onboarding sessions personally to learn from users, define first 2 videos content-wise (scripts, ig + yt) with custom gpts and notion table to work with lukas

  • high-agency is a key trait i won't compromise on in hiring anyone
  • thinking about 10x moves every week to live up to the highest potential of the ceo role

  • not having the teams onboarded (still), actively working on resolving that through hiring so ideally as of june 1st we have 3 fully assembled teams
